New to Nitro Touring

Postby pipcars » 13 May 2008, 10:33

Hi, just thought I'd say hello, I have just purchased a Serpent 710 and will be joining Aldershot asap. I have been into RC for years and have tried most scales, mainly Nitro Buggys. I am really looking forward to coming down and having a go. My Son will will refuel for me, so he says! I'm not sure what class I would be in as I am fairly rusty  My car has a Mega .12 engine and is run on 16% nitro. I will post some pics soon.
Best Regards Paul.

Hi Paul.

That's great news that you're going to come and race at AMCC. One of the fastest guys down here uses a 710 and sometimes 720 so he should be able to give you some initial pointers to set it up for Aldershot. The class we race is 200mm so your kit should be very competitive. Pretty much all of us run 16% nito fuel. You can run either foam or rubber tyres but most of us run foams. I heard from our Serpent guru that 40 shore all round works well on a 710. If you get desperate for tyres I'm sure we can russle up a couple of old sets for a few quid.

All the best

Dave

Hi Paul

Welcome! I have been in the club for only a year. I'm just a pitman but have enjoyed being part of a really friendly club. All the top drivers in 200mm are very helpful and knowledgeable. Looking forward to meeting you!

Car and Motors is eligible for the IC Touring class, but you don't say what bodyshell you have.
If it is a Touring car style then ok, but if a Prototype style then you will go in the IC Outlaw class.
