what do you guys think of OS engines?

Postby jamcar » 05 Mar 2008, 14:05

Hi guys,

What's the verdict on OS engines? I notice they have the OS 12 TZ Spec 2 which claims to have 1.7bhp.
There's no info about number of ports but people have been comparing it to the Plus 12 3CT so I think it has 3.

Thanks and regards

Dave

i dont really know about os engines.
but if you want a fast cheap engine try the ........sts d3r....its about £60
i run this engine so do 2 or 3 other people, its fast, cheap, reliable and has lasted for over a season of practicing and racing

i have also got 21 laps in 5 mins with it,so it is not slow

i'll vouch for that, the motor seems very quick - and exceptional value - they are on ebay brand new for £52 including postage!

The STS engines are great value for the money i have been using too, they have good power but do not rev as quote high as a novarossi.

I have heard that the OS engines are proberly one of the best quality engines, they hold a tune realy well and have good bottom end power but do not rev quite a high as a novarossi.

Dave you might be better of posting the same question on 3hobby.net as i think that Slows steady and other drivers on there will be able to give you better feedback.

Baz :D

Cheers Baz,

We were thinking about the OS engine as the power rating is pheonominal. However, I think I will wimp out and stick with what we know i.e. Nova Rossi.
Hope to see you Sunday mate.

All the best

Dave

question for baz and mark,

what exhaust do you guys use on the sts d3r?
think the one im using is a JP efra 2629, well thats what is has written on it,
but it doesnt fit right on the motor and p*sses out smoke from around the exhaust gasket, which probably isnt doing wonders for performance.
So thought id see what is reccomended, where i can get them, and how many pennies it might set me back!

Decided to enter the Mendip national on the 18th so hopefully lots of you guys will be there!

regards
Steve

Dave

Don't know anything about OS engines but the Novarossi Plus 3-12 CT has 1.64 hp and revs to 42,900.

there should be 2 shims ,one is brass and one is silver, remove the brass shim this will give better top end and accleration.

richen both screws qtr of a turn and then tune from there .you will now find that the engine is now much more faster.

temp for engine should not be run over 260f .mine has run at 290f before and it has done no damage.
