Low Cost IC?

Postby kevin bissell » 06 Oct 2007, 00:26

Any of you guys interested in trying to start a low cost IC class to attract newbies that are not interested in electric?

Are these any good?

Do you think they would generate any interest? I wouldn't imagine that they could be run alongside your 200mm machines (too slow) so unless you think we could get at least five regulars it's probably a non-starter.

We did run an IC Sport class for a while, this catered for the above cars plus many others, but then you had Serpent and Team Magic released RTR cars that were in fact an slightly out of date top class racing machine, so the class died.
Also the HPI models suffered from unreliable motors which made them unpopular and we lost those racers.

Eligible cars (chassis) off the top of my head:
Kyosho PureTen Spider Mk1
Kyosho PureTen Spider Mk2
Kyosho Mantis (FWD & RWD)
Kyosho Mantis Mini
Kyosho Fazer
Kyosho FW03
Kyosho FW04
Kyosho FW05S
Kyosho FW05T
Kyosho FW05T+
Kyosho FW06 (coming soon)
Kyosho Alpha GP 2
Kyosho Alpha GP 3
Kyosho F-Ten
Kyosho V-one S
Kyosho V-one S11
Kyosho V-one S111
Tamiya TG10
Tamiya TG10 XB
Tamiya TGX
HPI RS4/3 RTR
HPI RS4 Super Nitro
Mugen MSX2
Associated NTC3 RTR
Cen Fun Factor (needs circuit tyres)
+ many more

We tried to keep the class to pull start or roto start motors only, but then they started using pull start motors from the top engine makers.
I still have a few cars that is eligible for the IC Sport class, although spares are now a problem with them, including one that has never been built but will suffer from unavailabe tyres to fit it.
