An IC meet at Aldershot

Postby getpip » 28 Oct 2010, 22:09

There are plans afoot to gather together a number of IC drivers for a days racing at an Aldershot club meeting.

I have been asked to make a post on the forum just to check that, should this come to pass, we would be welcome.

As it stands it looks like we will be able to make up at least one decent heat but certainly not more than two.

I understand that this would be ok under the current rules but would be grateful if a club official could confirm that this is the case.

Many thanks.

I will need full Driver/Car/PB details again as the archives for IC are no longer.
Just got to do the math to make sure the 2 hour limit isn't broken.

Noise is still an issue so no running of cars in the pit area.

Will need to check with Nick to see if the land owner still allows us to run IC

Hi All

Nigel says there is still a noise issue and the landowner has to asked if we acan still run ic.
My question is Who is running ic down at the track and when was the last record of a noise complant?
For the record we have not been down with the ic cars since 6/3/2010
When I have called at the track when down that way there has only been electric cars out.
I have found in the past parts off offroad cars Shocks springs etc lying around the track which tells me that people who are not club members are still using the track.
How many members have left and not returned the gate key ?
Is it worth locking the gate on to the track to make it more difficult for people to access the track?

Practice 1pm to 4pm, 7 days a week (except race days)
Race day running restricted to 2 hours max in any 24hr period, so now we run 6 rounds during a race day, with heats of 5 minutes, 2 minutes warm up, and 30s to complete last lap, that is 45 minutes per heat, so a max of 2 heats (20 IC cars) on a race day.
Any more than 20 entries then running time for IC cars has to be reduced to keep within the 2 hour noise restriction.
Could be a problem if IC Bikes also want to turn up and race.

NO running of IC motors in the pits, and no running on IC motors on the race control side of marshal point 8 (except when running/moving on the track).
And any static revving of the motors must be done on the opposite side of the rostrum from race control.

That is the best we can get for IC's, and even that is under scrutiny

if 2 hrs is the max, why cant we have the ICs race on a Saturday on their own ... from 11am to 1pm or something ... should be able to get in a few qualifying rounds and a final ... assuming arrangement can be made for a committee member to be around of course ...

It has been this way for some time and doesn't seem unreasonable to me given the circumstances.
It has, after all, been a very long time since there was any more than two heats of gas cars at an Aldershot club meeting.

I think if all reports regarding council pressure are true then the committee are doing a sterling job in keeping alive the option to race gas, albeit in a restricted way.

I would also say however that it is not exactly being encouraged.

Just to be clear. IC cars are welcome to race at a Sunday meeting. All Nigel was saying is that we've been advised by the council that we should limit the total time when any IC car is running to 2 hours. So as long as we don't get more than 2 heats of ICs we should be ok.

As for the general point about some people not wanting IC cars at the meetings, well yes it is true to say that a lot of drivers like the relative peace and quite of the meetings now. Having said that we on the committee do not wish to ban IC cars. So if 5 or more drivers come along to a meeting we WILL organise 1 or 2 heats of ICs. So to all those IC drivers out there we invite you to come along to the next meeting - or whichever one you can get everyone together.

If you want to organise a get together at another club, we would ask you to use that club's site or one of the general RC forums to do so. This is afterall the Aldershot Club's site.

It appears that the work I am doing to get IC's racing again is not liked, so I am handing this over to the land owner, who would prefer a total blanket ban on ALL IC activity at the Aldershot track, including practice days.
I tried my best, but is wasn't enough, so goodbye IC's

Do you realy mean that Nigel?
That you will no longer support IC racing at the track?
