Newbie Racer

Postby maximus3d2000 » 17 Aug 2013, 22:54

HI

Im looking at coming down and getting back into racing again. I currently do 1 10th off roading so im fairly upto date with batteries electrics etc. But can anyone recommend me or point me in the right direction of a good second hand roller for me to dabble in. Im looking at doing the 17.5t blinky class. I do understand the expensive bit still seems to be tyres but im looking at just doing this for fun rather than being uberly competitive

ANy advice on rollers would be ace?

i have an associated tc6 for sale with plenty of spares that i dont use anymore,im looking for £150 for the lot
spares include a full spring set a spare chassis and top decks, new belts ,spare shocks and bulkheads, there are enough spares to build a second car
and it was last run in blinky at amcc,so put in your electrics and your ready to go

U may need the older pc software as the new pc software can stutter slightly when pulling away if u can't find it I have it on a USB stick both are v20 stock0 firmware just for some reason stutters some times when updated with new software

Saying that James doesn't have a stutter but if it does I can update it

Scott

I've just bought the Reventon Pro and can report you most likely WILL need the old software. I fitted mine last night and it doesn't matter which of the four current versions of firmware you download (2.4, 2.5, 2.6 or 2.7) it stutters at low throttle settings. I'm just hoping that by flashing it with an old version of firmware it will magically become smooth.

I reckon I'm going to have to turn the brakes down otherwise I'll be putting flat spots on my tyres

At the BTCC last weekend I got to within 0.7 secs of my PB on the second run so my 2.5 year old Hobbywing is still not bad. It was damp on the first run, rained as we stepped onto the rostrum on the third run (no fun on slicks) then on the final qualifying round I was improving right up to the point I decided the car looked more impressive sliding along the track on its roof!! Grrrr :(

Let us know how the Reventon goes for you.

As for Geraldo bindiver Page calling you a vulture... Gerald, rearrange the following words into a common phrase "kettle, black, the, pot, calling"

That would be far too easy. Actually I already have one, the Hobbywing, I'm still trying to work out why I feel the need to change it . It's as fast as anyone else down the straight, I suppose I'm clinging to the hope new speedo will overcome my **** driving.

Gerald I have just purchased one of these and will get down and try it and let you know. With regards to speedo's.. In blinky class they are all exactly the same but just offer different feel. The biggest thing is to get the car to be safe and carry its speed oh and not to crash..
